How Top Brands Use Color to Drive Foot Traffic at CES, Cannes Lions, and the World's Biggest Shows

Foot traffic at a major tradeshow is not random. Visitors don't wander — they scan, filter, and decide in under three seconds whether a booth is worth slowing down for. Color is doing most of that work.

Brand Colors Are a Starting Point, Not a Strategy

The show floor is not a white background — it's a visual battlefield of competing identities, all screaming at the same time. The brands that cut through pick one color, push it to a scale and saturation it was never designed for, and let everything else recede.

At Cannes Lions and CES, the booths with the longest queues are almost never the most colorful. They're the most committed.

Design for the Aisle, Not the Render

Booth decisions get made in design studios, on screens, looking at polished 3D renders. But a booth is experienced from the aisle first — in motion, at a distance, against fifty other booths in the same sightline.

At IFA Berlin, where halls run for hundreds of meters, a color that reads clearly from ten meters away is not an aesthetic preference. It's the entry requirement. High contrast against the surrounding environment, a palette that doesn't dissolve into the sea of whites and grays that dominate most show floors — these are functional decisions before they're creative ones.

Make It Worth Photographing

At Cannes Lions, the event is built around creative output — and the booths that generate the most social content are the ones with a single, intensely chromatic moment. One wall. One installation. One color experience that exists specifically because it photographs well.

The same logic holds at CES and IFA, where thousands of content creators are actively hunting for visual moments worth sharing. A single image from a creator at your booth, widely shared, can reach audiences that no media buy at the show would touch. Design the moment before you design the rest of the booth.
